Royce’s 13 year tenure at RMB Asset Management culminated in him holding the position of Head of Financials. He was also a long-standing member of the Asset Allocation Committee. While at RMBAM he managed an array of investment products, including the Specialist Equity, Balanced, Property, and Hedge funds. This has endowed him with a diverse and complementary investment skillset. He co-founded Obsidian Capital in 2007 where he is jointly responsible for the management of the Balanced and Equity funds in the long only space, as well as Multi-Strategy and Aggressive Equity products in the hedge fund space.

Richard was Chief Strategist and Head of Resources research at RMB Asset Management. He also headed up the Asset Allocation Committee. Being responsible for both company specific and macroeconomic analysis, and the experiences born out of straddling the two, has equipped him with a skillset that allows him to successfully combine both elements. Like Royce, he managed an array of investment products, most notably the Balanced and Specialist Equity funds. He co-founded Obsidian Capital in 2007. He is jointly responsible for the management of the Balanced and Equity funds, as well as the Multi-Strategy and Aggressive Equity hedge funds.
Craig completed his articles at Grant Thornton where his clients included both listed and unlisted companies from an array of different industries, including banking, industrial, retail, healthcare, and agriculture. He also participated in a four month secondment with Grant Thornton in New York. After completing his articles, Craig worked as a credit research analyst at RMB, focussing on high yield credit issuers. He joined Obsidian Capital as an investment professional in February 2012.
Warren worked as a business analyst in the FMCG and hospitality industries after graduating from UCT with a B.Bus.Sci in Finance. Performing analysis on both quantitative and qualitative fronts and subsequently improving operational efficiencies characterises his experience. An enduring interest in financial markets and a passion for business strategy and reform underpinned his return to the investment industry. He has passed all three of his CFA examinations. Warren joined Obsidian Capital in March 2014.
Jason completed his articles at EY where he was exposed to clients in the mining, financial services, and manufacturing industries. Post articles, he completed a short secondment to the EY Boston offices in their asset management audit division. Prior to joining Obsidian Capital, Jason worked for EY’s Transaction Advisory Services department, where he was involved in due diligence reviews and other corporate finance related activities. Jason has passed all three of his CFA examinations. He joined Obsidian Capi-tal in April 2014.
Head of Operations
Jeanette moved to Johannesburg in 2005 to join a Corporate Finance firm, thereafter starting her own consultancy business specialising in financial reporting, analysis, accounting and efficiency processes. She has a high-level knowledge of Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel/VBA and enjoys complex reporting. Jeanette joined Obsidian Capital in September 2009.
